Handbag Analysis

So I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and do a "What's in YOUR Bag?" feature and here it is!

Accessorize

This is the bag I'm currently using at the moment, though I do chop and change between this and a tapestry bag from Topshop depending on my mood or what I'm wearing.

Now I realise why my bag is so heavy all the time!

Firstly, and most importantly, sweeties! I've been spending most of my time working away in the library lately so I usually have a little something to nibble on in my bag. I bought these Rubard and Custard sweeties the other day because they remind me of being little.
I'm also having a little obsession with Pumpkin seeds at the moment, so I've got a yummy little pot of Sunflower and Pumpkin seeds with Almonds.
Also the obligatory Softmints to keep me minty fresh!

I burnt my arm while making pancakes (pancake day is dangerous!), so I've been carrying around Savlon to put on it. Also I like to have handcream handy, nail varnish and some lipstick - you never know when you might need some!

Sadly, for the past few weeks now, I've had to carry around this stress-inducer. It about 10 scientific journals I'm using for my literature review - which I really should be working on now, but let's not focus on that.

I've also been carrying around my folder of Uni work, a book I'm also using for my lit review, and my notebook which I use to scribble down random things I need to remember - journal articles, or newpaper article ideas (I write for the student newspaper).

I always keep a book on me and whip it out whenever I'm bored, currently I'm reading A Clockwork Orange. I also have another notebook I keep handy which is used half as a day planner and half as just scribbling down random bits of information.
I'm suddenly realising how disorganised I am with all my different notebooks and all sorts!
I've also got a little diary which I use to keep track of deadlines and important dates.

And finally, the miscellaneous section. My purse, my keys attached to a lanyard I got at the Connect Festival, headphones, and a variety of pens - including my favourite penguin pen!

And that's my life in a bag. So, what's in your bag?

Day 2

day 02 - your least favorite song

This was tough! I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music, and it took me ages to think of a specific song that I just cannot stand. I was listening to the radio today and this little gem cropped up, and I just turned the radio off.
It's Show Goes On by Lupe Fiasco, and it's just horrific. It's rapping over Modest Mouse's "Float On", which is one of my most favourite songs, and this just ruins it completely.

here's Modest Mouse's original version

like an orgasm in my ear!

30 Day Song Challenge

Saw this over at Miss Kirsty's blog and thought it was a really lovely idea.

Here are the challenges for each day:

day 01 - your favorite song
day 02 - your least favorite song
day 03 - a song that makes you happy
day 04 - a song that makes you sad
day 05 - a song that reminds you of someone
day 06 - a song that reminds you of somewhere
day 07 - a song that reminds you of a certain event
day 08 - a song that you know all the words to
day 09 - a song that you can dance to
day 10 - a song that makes you fall asleep
day 11 - a song from your favorite band
day 12 - a song from a band you hate
day 13 - a song that is a guilty pleasure
day 14 - a song that no one would expect you to love
day 15 - a song that describes you
day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate
day 17 - a song that you hear often on the radio
day 18 - a song that you wish you heard on the radio
day 19 - a song from your favorite album
day 20 - a song that you listen to when you’re angry
day 21 - a song that you listen to when you’re happy
day 22 - a song that you listen to when you’re sad
day 23 - a song that you want to play at your wedding
day 24 - a song that you want to play at your funeral
day 25 - a song that makes you laugh
day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument
day 27 - a song that you wish you could play
day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty
day 29 - a song from your childhood
day 30 - your favorite song at this time last year

So this is day one! And I have to come up with my favourite song, which isn't an easy task. But I think I'd have to go with Lua by Bright Eyes. I adore the band, there's something about Conor Oberst's voice which I find just lovely. It's not a particularly happy song, but there's something about it that has just stuck with me through the years...

If you like this, you should check out the rest of this album which is just gorgeous. As well as his other stuff.

March Wishlist

Sorry for clogging up the blog stream tonight but I'm rather bored. And instead of putting my boredom to good use and doing something productive, I thought I'd put together a wishlist of items I wish to buy this March.

I probably wont get even half of them, but it's nice to look at pretty things, isn't it?

Last Night's Dream

Does anyone know what dreams mean?

Last night I dreamed I was working for Kelly Cutrone at a fashion show. Everybody had to dress one model with the clothes available, and me and Kelly had arrived first and so were looking through all the clothes racks.

There were rows and rows of gorgeous clothes and I was taking my time picking something. I got to the end of the last row, turned around to find that most of the clothes had gone. Obviously everyone had arrived and grabbed their favorite outfit.

I grabbed the last dress which was an odd one sleeved shiny number and a bunch of accessories and went off to find my model. Turns out she was super nervous as this was her first time - she also had such a cute pixie hair cut.I was so relieved saying it was my first time too! So I give her this weird dress and she puts it on and it looks god-awful.
Then Kelly comes over to check up on me, and we discuss the accessories I picked up - a couple belts and this yellow leather purse.

The next part of the dream I can't quite remember exactly how it went, but at one point the model's mother was in the changing room with us crying because she was nervous about her daughter. Then Kelly told her to get out. Then Ms Cutrone grabbed my accessories and went into the changing room with my model and came out with her looking amazing!

Then I woke up.

Weird dream.

New Look

I had a little fiddle with the colours, and made myself a nice new title image, and come up with a lovely new look for my blog. Well, I like it anyway, but let me know what you think.
I may have another play about with it later, but it's definitely looking smarter.

Today I discovered a new website: Dolly Dagger. Which is full of some gorgeous dresses, which I seem to be developing some sort of fetish for.

Not usually what I would go for, but there's something about this dress that I just fell in love with. Having a tough time convincing myself I don't need this in my life.

I literally could spend all day perusing this site, and am hoping to treat myself once I've saved up some money.

^So cute!^

What I liked most though was that they had a section where you search via what you love - anchors and swallows, gingham, glitter & sparklers, skulls, polka dots etc, as well as what your style is - disco dolly, lady of luxury, military miss, vintage vixen etc. Which I thought was a nice touch.

On another note, I'm currently trying my hand at knitting! Currently working my way through a scarf for my lovely mummy - what a wonderful daughter I am!

Yes, well

I think I've been neglecting my blogging lately.

Just got back from being home from the weekend, wish I could say it was nice to see the parents again, but they were working so I barely saw them at all. Got to spend time with my sister which was nice, and basically spent the weekend vegging out watching scary movies under duvets with the dog, and practicing making pancakes for pancake day - well, that was our excuse anyway.

I'm utterly exhausted right now seeing as I, oddly, woke up at 5am this morning and could not get back to sleep, so I took the dog for a walk. Which turned out to be lovely.

I think a change of style is in order for my page, so I'll maybe work on that tomorrow and catch you up on all the goings on in my life.

Til' then. x
