Getting things organised (I'm an idiot)

In the spirit of being more organised (thanks to my lovely filofax), I've decided to get everything else in my life organised too (other than just my uni work).

I'm a strange kind of person. I'm either incredibly focused on doing one thing, or not focused at all. And I've decided it's time to sort that out! Every day I'm going to make sure I do a little work, something fun, keep in touch with people and - my favourite - learn something new every day (something that I don't have to know for uni). The idea is kind of, everything in moderation. And hopfully I wont burn myself out, getting stressed because I'm focusing all my energy on work and not looking after myself.

And so, in doing this, I also decided to come up with a skin (and hair) care regimen. I've never really done the whole religiously moisturising with day and night creams, toners etc etc, and have always been a quick scrub and go kind of gal. So armed with birthday gift cards and my student loan I hit Boots in search of an (affordable) skin care regimen for my combination skin and came up with this:

Garnier Simple Essential Toner

Nivea Visage oil free moisturiser

Nivea Visage Regenerating Night Cream

which I will use every day along with my Garnier face scrub I already have.
And while I was there I also treated my self to Boot's Coconut and Almond hair mask (which I've heard good things about) to use every week or so, and Charles Worthington Volume Booster Mousse. I have terribly thin and fine hair which I got from my mother, and am forever searching for the perfect volumising mousse, shampoo, conditioner, anything(!) that will boost the volume of my hair without making it feel greasy or weighing it down. So I thought I'd give this one a go!

So I headed up to the till to buy my goodies but realising (just in time to avoid embarrassment) that I didn't have my purse on me! However I made a note of what I wanted to get and when I got home ordered it online instead. God, I love internet shopping.

Hopefully my goodies will arrive soon!

And on a, final, sidenote - I've signed up for Boudoir Privee's luxury beauty box. Basically, you pay a monthly fee and they send you boxes of luxury goodies for you to try. So I'll be reviewing that when I get my first one (The October box)

Hope you're all having a great day!

Hey Mr Postman

Yesterday morning I got a lovely little surprise in the post. My (first ever) filofax arrived two days early! (Thanks to Amazon, and no thanks to WHSmith!)

I'm completely in love with it and am already snooping online shops for more inserts and pretty things for it.

(Apologies in advance for the rubbish pictures, I only have the camera on my phone at the moment, and for the fact that some of the pictures may not be the right way round - Blogger didn't like me today!)

I've played around with organising it in different ways, and I've settled on this way so far, but no doubt I'll end up messing around with it again.

At the front I have my top opening pocket, with various business cards I want to keep, and a few other keepsakes.

I don't have the insert with the post it notes - although I'm sure I'll be ordering it soon - so I thought I'd just stick a few of my own post its on to the clear protective insert in the mean time :)

I've already started filling in some important dates for this year (eep!)

At the moment I've got my note paper at the back, split into sections according to the colour of note paper. Mostly they're being used for my dissertation just now - very useful!

And right at the back I've got my (beloved) To-Do Lists and the extra note paper (which is very handy!)

In short, I think I'm in love!

Back From Outerspace

Hello all! I'm back from my holiday, fully relaxed and even a little bit tanned!
Had a lovely time staying in a villa in a small village on the coast, it was really gorgeous. We spent a lot of time house-hunting as my parents are hoping to move to Cyprus in the near future. I, however, shall not be. As lovely as Cyprus was, for me it's definitely more of a holiday destination rather than somewhere to live - and the heat! No, not for me. But at least I wont have to fork out for a hotel if I do ever go there ;)

The biggest news at the moment is that I've officially started forth year!

Yup, it's dissertation time, and even though there's so so much to do right now, I'm still looking forward to it in my own geeky way. Plus I have a great advisor who knows so much about my topic and even in our first meeting was a huge help and gave me loads of great information. Still seems daunting though!

So seeing as I've started a new, and important, year, I thought it would be a good idea to come up with an (Academic) New Year's Resolution :)
Mine is kind of a two-parter:
To be more organised and not procrastinate
So they kind of go hand in hand together.

I am horrifically unorganised usually, with paper scattered in different places, different things written in different notebooks. And I, without fail, leave everything to the last minute. I'm dreadful!

So in keeping with my resolution, I've taken the plunge, and bought myself a filofax.
This one to be specific:

I love filofaxes and have wanted one for ages. The only thing putting me off was the price! But I was looking at the WHSmith website, ordering lots of folders, pens and stationary (I love stationary) and saw that they have a big sale of filofaxes at the moment, so I just had to order it - even though I'll have to go to the store to pick it up.

Hope you've all had a gorgeous Summer, and (if applicable) hope you're all looking forward to going or being back at school, college, or uni!

Peace

I'm back!

This is a very quick update while I can keep my eyes open. Just back from Cyprus (flew in late last night to Gatwick and then drove to Scotland so it's been a long day) and I had a marvelous time, as well as celebrating my 21st birthday!
Yes, I'm officially an adult and therefore old!

I'll blog soon and update you all about the goings on, but for now I shall curl up in bed :)
Until then,

Peace H x
